C2: CARTONS
Pragati Flexo Pvt. Ltd., India for Cubraxis M 5mg. 20 Tabs
GROUP C AWARD
Skanem Poznan, Poland for Eveline Cosmetics – Anti-Stress
A well-produced label with exceptional skin tones contributes strongly to making this entry a group winner. Very good use of the flexographic process.
INNOVATION GROUP D
This category has two joint group winners
Schreiner Group GmbH & Co. KG., Germany for Nameplate with Integrated pressure compensation seal
The secret of innovation is to venture out into the world of industry and discover how pressure-sensitive products could help solve a particular problem or how a label could help to streamline or make a process cheaper or help to save costs. This is what the Schreiner Group do so successfully. In this particular case a need was discovered for a one-way valve to reduce the pressure inside an electronic control unit and protect it from pressure changes. It is vital to keep dirt and water out. This was achieved by using an air- permeable membrane using self- adhesive technology. The nameplate containing the membrane was printed using thermo transfer printing technology. This replaced an expensive and time consuming task of fitting pressure compensation caps.
Auraprint Oy, Finland for Orion Clean Card Pro
A nice clean carton with contrasting colours. Flexography again produces an award-winning result. The subtle gloss varnish in the background repeats the brand name in an almost subliminal way. All the lettering, including the small type is clear and clean which is a prerequisite for any pharmaceutical job.
C3: SLEEVES
Etimag Etiket, Turkey for
Coca Cola Studio Kaprol 250ml.
An interesting design with a zip running right up the middle of the sleeve. Although the Coca Cola red is unmistakable it
does not swamp the design. The variations in colour throughout this entry make it just that little bit different. Printed using offset litho against a white background produces a clean, clear result.
Ever wanted to know if a clean work surface is really clean? Now there is a quick and easy way to determine the cleanliness of a surface which could be in a food preparation environment or in a hospital ward or operating theatre. A gauze is impregnated with a chemical reagent which is sandwiched between two pieces of fairly rigid film. The indicator in the gauze responds to protein residues by changing the colour of the chemical in the fabric from yellow to green or blue depending on the degree of contamination. The production of this involves a complex structure produced in a single pass on a modified label press. This product contributes in no small way to a safer and cleaner working area.
