FINAT WINNERS
World
Label Awards
The L9 World Label Awards competition pits the best from each of the participating associations against each other in 22 well defined categories. In order to be considered the labels must have won an award in their domes- tic competitions during the previous year. The judging panel (selected from the associations submitting entries) for the 23rd competition met just before Labelexpo Europe in Brussels in September 2013. FINAT is delighted to honour the following award and honourable mention winners.
World
Label Associations
CLASS 1 FLEXO LINE
Security label excise seals country liquor
Pragati Pack (India) Pvt. Ltd. India
This is probably the smallest
label in this year’s
competition (1.5cm x 5 cm).
The degree of accuracy
achieved using UV
flexographic printing is
absolutely superb. Several
covert security features are included in addition to the high quality achieved on this label making it an even more remarkable result.
CLASS 13 COMBINATION LINE
Automotive Security Logistic Label
Schreiner Group GmbH & Co. KG. Germany
This security label has been produced using letterpress, screen and offset technologies along with a hot foil applied hologram stripe. The label is designed to combat the counterfeiting of expensive automobile parts. The combination of the various printing processes has produced a printing result of the highest quality. In addition several covert and overt security features are included in this label.
CLASS 19 SCREEN
A Nice Liqueur
Kolibri Labels,
The Netherlands
An ideal example of the
effects which can be
achieved using the (silk)
screen process printed
as a “no label look” on
clear polypropylene.
The bright saturated block colours produce bold images with clean, clear edges. A glossy flexo varnish adds “hidden depth” to the final result in the form of tactile snowflakes. The label is used on an unusually shaped bottle!
CLASS 22 INNOVATION
70
IXcode for banks
Stratus Packaging, France
A really innovative use of the narrow web press and the UV flexographic process. Many of the technical details are necessarily confidential. A combination of special polypropylene substrates, inks and adhesives are used to achieve the end result. PIN number protection is a hot topic in the security world at the moment and this label achieves this in a novel and innovative way.
