THE FINAT LOG
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE FINAT
CALENDAR 2013-2014
Over the past 12 months, the FINAT Board, committees and professionals have worked hard for the common interest of the self-adhesive label industry. This log gives you a chronological summary of what the association has done since June 2013.
12 JUNE
Technical Committee meeting, Westin Grand Hotel Munich
Part of this meeting was reserved for a presentation by FINAT’s Public Affairs & Issues Manager Mark Macaré on an EU product category footprint rules pilot. This was a new upcoming project following in line with the environmental reporting harmonization project, which had been discussed in previous TC meetings. The committee also elaborated on issues like REACH, the update of the Technical Handbook, liner recycling initiatives, and the preparation of 4 short luncheon workshops on the occasion of Labelexpo Europe.
12-15 June: Joint FINAT/VskE congress “Label your future’ at the Westin Grand Hotel Munich
The 2013 FINAT congress – jointly organised with the German self-adhesive label association Verband der Hersteller selbstklebender Etiketten und Schmalbahnconverter (VskE) – was an opportunity for members to get together, both formally and informally, to assess tomorrow’s challenges and opportunities for the industry. The congress theme, ‘Label your future!’, left
delegates in no doubt about how their time would be spent as they converged in the Westin Grand Hotel in Munich, Germany, in June 2013.

14 June: FINAT Recycling Group, Westin Grand Hotel Munich
The Recycling Group dealt with questions how to monitor progress in liner recycling. It was vital to collect success stories from the various providers in order to show the industry, which initiatives exist and to convince end-users that liner recycling is feasible.
14 June: FINAT Labelexpo Advisory Board, Munich, Germany
As the longstanding ‘presenting’ partner of Tarsus as far as Labelexpo Europe is concerned, FINAT is committed to support its visitor and exhibitor members in achieving continuous improvement of our industry’s exhibition flagship. In this respect the existing joint Tarsus-FINAT Labelexpo Advisory Board was strengthened and now consists of representatives of the management of Tarsus, the FINAT Board and the exhibitor community, Also a Labelexpo Forum was established to allow the wider FINAT exhibitor community to submit and discuss feedback. The groups discuss issues of common interest and identify areas of improvement for the exhibition.
The objective of this meeting was to update the LAB on the various actions agreed upon at the meeting on 4 February in Amsterdam.
