LABELEXPO EUROPE 2011
LARGEST LABEL SHOW EVER FEATURES 20TH ANNIVERSARY FINAT LABELEXPO PARTNERSHIP
From 28 September – 1 October in Brussels, on the occasion of its 15th edition, Labelexpo Europe celebrated it’s 30th birthday. The show broke all previous records. In total, nearly 29 thousand visitors entered through the gates over the four days of the show, an increase of almoist 20% over 2009’s show. With 550 exhibitors (up from 544 in 2009), the show covered six exhibition halls at the Brussels Expo with an overall foor space of nearly 29 thousand square meters. With visitors and exhibitors travelling in from 118 countries world-wide, the show confirmed its status as the leading global trade show for the label industry.
With several hundred new product launches, Labelexpo Europe again proved to be number one show for live demonstrations. Complementing the on-stand demos, the show included two new major feature areas - the Digital Print Workshops and the Package Printing Zone.
A huge hit, the Digital Print Workshops gave visitors the unique chance to see three printing technologies (dry toner, electro-ink and inkjet) compared against each other during live machine demonstrations run by an independent moderator. The equally popular Package Printing Zone ran seminar sessions and working machinery demonstrations that were designed to introduce label printers to opportunities in short to medium run package printing.
MARKING THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FINAT – LABELEXPO PARTNERSHIP
The show was the first under the new Labelexpo agreement between Tarsus and FINAT, the 4th renewal since a deal was first signed between the two parties in 1991. In this sense it was a double anniversary. “In all respects this has been the best show ever,” said Kurt Walker, FINAT President. “I heard very positive feedback from both exhibitors
and visitors. Labelexpo gave a ‘motivational and comforting’ injection to the industry. Exhibitors demonstrated how new technologies such as digital print can create market potential in new segments. Labelexpo also revealed the ongoing initiatives taken for a greener and more sustainable industry. These in turn can result in additional business opportunities and value adding services.”
RECYCLING DESK AT THE FINAT STAND
As always, FINAT was prominently represented at the exhibition with a stand at a central location of the exhibition. Volunteer committee members took turns in supporting the FINAT staff at the
booth and inform visitors about the work and benefits of their association. Many members took the occasion to stop by for refreshments and to meet with fellow members, or have private meetings at the small meeting room at the stand. This year, a special feature at the stand was the Recycling Desk where Recycling Project manager Mark Macaré and volunteers from the Recycling Committee informed visitors about the various recycling solutions around Europe for liner and matrix materials.
OPERATORS’ DAY 1 OCTOBER 2011: A LEARNING EXPERIENCE
The 2011 edition of the show featured another novelty. FINAT and Tarsus, supported by the national label associations from Germany and France,
FINAT President Kurt Walker addresses sponsors and participants of Operators’ Day at a special award ceremony.
