Newly established FINAT Recycling Group at its first face-to-face meeting on 12 May 2011 in Amsterdam
the volume of liner materials collected and recycled to 30% by 2015.
goals and actions
In order to do this, the Project Group will focus on two areas and has split itself accordingly in two subcommittees. The first group will focus on raising awareness within the industry and among end-users. Supported by the secretariat, it will be engaged in the preparation of promotio- nal and educational FINAT material on recycling, regular press releases and articles about success stories, a recycling portal on the new FINAT website and a recycling desk at the FINAT Labelexpo stand. In addition, available release liner recycling possibilities will be highlighted at FINAT events.
The second group will be in charge of the optimisation of collection and logistics. This group will concern itself with
questions like: where are liner volumes generated geographically? How can collection programmes be supported and connected regionally? Which logistics and storage facilities are in place already that can be used? What can be learned from existing collection schemes, as a blueprint for other countries and associations?
erpc
Next to its own Project Group, FINAT is actively involved in the drafting of the new declaration on recycling by the European Recovered Paper Council (ERPC) for the period 2011-2015. The European Declaration on Paper Recycling is to set out measures aimed at optimising the management of recovered paper throughout the paper value chain.
By participating in the ERPC, FINAT is taking part in ongoing discussions
and collaboration on matters of common concern (such as printability, recyclability, deinkability) with regard to used paper and board and especially siliconised paper liner.
