Queen Máxima opened the renovated tropical glasshouse complex on 4 September 2013, amidst great interest. This was the incentive for naming a newly discovered orchid species after the queen. The genus Chelonistele is small, but a species was previously named after Queen Beatrix in honour of her opening of the building in which the herbarium was housed at that time. When the Queen Máxima orchid owers it is placed in a prominent
position behind a glass window.
