The high glasshouse
From a starting point in the Entrance Building: walk through the Winter Garden, go outside and cross the bridge, walk straight ahead (you will see the impressive Orangery, dating from 1744, on your right). Enter the tropical glasshouse complex: you are now standing in the High Glasshouse,
the starting point for your walking tour.
Welcome to the High Glasshouse. The wall behind you shows signs that the glasshouses were extended upwards during the renovation in 2013. The architect has made history visible by installing wide, modern windows above the old teak beams.
Take a walk round. The path to your left starts by a number of 1 citrus plants, and a little further on, to your right, you will see a 2 pepper plant climbing into a teak tree. There are also a number of plants that have owers growing straight out of the trunk. By the right-hand
path, towards the aquarium wall, you can see a number of large-leaved plants such as the 3 giant fern.
